This classic fair competition is all about distance, accuracy, and a little bit of bragging rights. Step up, take your best throw, and see how you stack up against the competition.

Whether you’re competing or cheering from the sidelines, the Frying Pan Toss is a fun, lighthearted fair tradition you won’t want to miss.

2026 Granite State Fair Women’s Frying Pan Toss

Age Divisions

1. Ages 18–30
2. Ages 31–40
3. Ages 41–50
4. Ages 51–60
5. Ages 61–70
6. Ages 71+

The top three finishers in each age division will advance to the championship round.

During the final round, each contestant will receive two throws, with the better of the two counting toward the final standings. Throws measuring less than 25 feet or landing more than 20 feet from the center line will not be measured.

Awards

Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age division:

• 1st Place: $10
• 2nd Place: $8
• 3rd Place: $6

The top three overall competitors from the championship round will receive:

• 1st Place: $200
• 2nd Place: $100
• 3rd Place: $50

Competition Rules

1. The competition is open to women age 18 and older.
2. An official 9-inch cast-iron frying pan will be supplied by the Granite State Fair for all contestants.
3. Contestants may use either a standing, walking or running approach before releasing the pan.
4. The goal is to throw the frying pan as far as possible while keeping it close to the designated center line.
5. Each throw will be measured from the foul line to the point where the frying pan first makes contact with the ground. Any distance the pan lands away from the center line will be deducted from the total throwing distance.
6. Practice throws are not permitted.
7. Each contestant will receive one underhand throw during the qualifying round.
8. Contestants must remain behind the foul line during the throw. Repeatedly touching or crossing the foul line may result in disqualification.
9. All measurements and decisions made by event officials are final.
